Owen arrived at the Torres residence completely uncertain as to what exactly he was doing, Drew had told him to be there because it would mean a lot to Bianca but now he felt like he was intruding on a moment that didn’t involve him. He could see his old Jeep parked in the driveway which meant that Bianca was already there he parked his car outside and walked up to the window careful not to be seen. He looked around, the house seemed to be empty, Drew told him the door would be open and something about the backyard and basement. He walked around the house trying to convince himself to stay he had after all promised a true end to their feud, he took a breath and remembered that the day really wasn’t about him and his stupid feelings of doubt. Today was about making Bianca happy and Drew seemed to be that for her, he walked up the stairs to Adam’s bedroom, the room with the best view of the backyard. He could see Drew kneeling down in front of her nerves evident on his face. Bianca obviously noticed how nervous the kid was her mind was stuck on the fact that he was in fact kneeling before her, he smirked hoping to god that whatever Drew was saying to Bianca it was full of meaning and something she would remember. He shook his head and walked down the stairs to the door of the basement and gently opened it sitting at the top of it so that he could patiently wait for when they got back inside.
Minutes passed and his legs were starting to cramp up, finally the door opened and they walked in he stood up and took a few slow steps down. They were now sitting close together watching some movie, he walked all the way down the steps and walked up behind Bianca closing her eyes with the palms of his hands. “Merry Christmas!” He stepped back waiting for her get up from the couch, a smile immediately greeted his face as he saw the look of surprise on her face. “So, I know you’re an extremely impatient woman so you get your Christmas present today. Right now actually.” He looked down at Drew and reached his hand out to shake “Congrats, man. I’m glad you actually had the balls to do this today.” He turned back to Bianca “My present to you is a complete amends with your Fiance, we talked a few days ago and agreed that what would be best is if we didn’t want to kill each other at every passing moment. Plus this way I can easily hand you off to him when I walk you down the aisle, whenever that day may be.” He took a breath and continued to smile “Surprised?”
The movie was only about fifteen or twenty minutes in but Bianca had barely heard more than a few words of it. Her thoughts were way too busy racing while still trying to grasp the concept that she was engaged, actually engaged. Every few minutes a wave of emotions would hit her and she would do everything physically possible to keep herself from tearing up or crying. Her arms were still tightly wound around Drew’s and her head was still resting comfortably against his shoulder. She could feel his warmth even through their thick winter clothes and she was perfectly content sitting there where she was for the rest of the night. Her racing thoughts mixed in with the sound of the television in the background made it literally impossible for her to hear the footsteps approaching the couch from behind so she nearly jumped out of her skin when she felt a pair of hands cover her eyes. The sound of a guy’s voice followed soon after and though it sounded familiar she knew that must have just been a coincidence, because the person she’d placed the voice with couldn’t possibly be there right now. As soon as the hands had moved away from her eyes she pushed herself up and twisted her body so she could look over the back of the couch and see who was there.
The look on her face when she saw Owen standing there was probably Kodak worthy but she couldn’t help it; he was the last person she would have expected to see there. She watched as the two boys shook hands and she pieced together that they must have talked before tonight, that Owen wasn’t here by accident, and that he’d known what Drew was going to do, and most surprising of all, he was okay with it. The wave of emotions that hit her this time were physically impossible to be held back, so when Owen asked if she was surprised she pushed herself up slid herself over the top of the couch and she sprang up into Owen’s arms. Her arms wrapped tightly around Owen’s neck and at the same time she felt his arms wrap around her waist and she felt her feet leave the ground. She buried her face into his neck and felt warm tears slide from her eyes and onto his Ice Hounds jacket. “I got you a bottle opener and you did this…” She managed to croak out in an almost strangled voice that was barely above a whisper. “Thank you so much Owen. I miss you,” she gushed, unable to help herself. The emotions that had been heaped upon her in one night alone had been about as much as she’d ever felt in her lifetime. She stayed there, buried in the crook of his neck for several long seconds, before she felt him slowly lowering her down to the ground. She pulled away a little and wiped away at her eyes before she looked up at him. “Thank you,” she repeated again, her brown eyes boring into his sky blues. Suddenly her expression turned into a much happier one, her face practically glowing, and she proudly held her hand out to show him her new ring, the one she had been looking at every few minutes for the past nearly half hour.
It was almost mechanical the way his hands moved across her back and lifted her up from the ground. He didn’t realize how much he actually missed the brunette until this moment when she was crying onto his leather jacket “Don’t worry about what you got me, I love it. It’s in my pocket right now.” He tried his best to not show any other kind of emotion but the longer she held onto him the more his frozen heart started to melt. “You have no idea how much I’ve missed you, I’m really sorry I let so much time pass before actually attempting to fix things. I’m stupid.” He felt a few drops of water fall down his eyes, even though he had been stupid in letting so much time pass he had chosen a good moment to patch things up with her guy. He finally set her down quickly wiping his face down and chuckling at her. He took her hand and looked down at her ring “It’s a nice rock but it could be bigger,” he teased. He shook his head “You seriously didn’t have to thank me because this needed to happen and I needed to stop being an idiot especially now, I don’t think that anyone but me could be the one to give you away and pay for this wedding of yours. Family of the bride usually takes the bill, right?” He smirked, whenever it came to Bianca his wallet was the farthest thing from his mind, he’d pay anything to see her happy.
